Bring your family and enjoy a fun day of living history as Wethersfield Historical Society presents this year’s History Day for Families on Saturday,May 19, 2012 from 11am to 3 pm on the grounds of the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center, 200 Main Street, Wethersfield. This free program features Liberty Vintage Baseball team. Come watch a Civil War era baseball game and learn about the wartime roots of the sport. Any baseball fan would be crazy to miss this!

Exhibit Opening: Love Letters and Uniforms: Wethersfield During the Civil War - June 15, 2011Exhibit opening and reception for the new exhibit in the Wethersfield Museum in the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center commemorating the effort of the town home front in supplying, supporting and coping with the national struggle to preserve the Union will be held on June 15th from 5:30 -7:30pm. Vintage Baseball at Cove Park - Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 11am Come join us at Cove Park for Vintage Baseball! Team Liberty will facing off with Team Resolute for a 1864 vintage baseball game with a break for children to try the game and then a rematch in the 1870 style. Bring your family and enjoy a fun day of living history as Wethersfield Historical Society presents this year’s History Day for Families on Saturday, September 17, 2011 from 11am to 3 pm on the grounds of the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center, 200 Main Street, Wethersfield. This free program features Civil War reenactors of civilian life and military units. Kevin Johnson of the Connecticut State Library will present a dramatic performance of William Webb, a solider in the 29th Colored Regiment. For more information please click here!
Lantern Light Tours - Friday, October 21 & Saturday, October 22, 2011Join us for Lantern Light Tours on Friday, October 21 and Saturday, October 22 in Old Wethersfield. Five tours each night will be leaving every twenty minutes from the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center. Tickets are sold prior to the event, with remaining tickets at the door. Due to the limits on group size it is recommended to purchase tickets ahead of time at the Old Academy (150 Main Street) Tuesday thru Friday 10-4pm or on the “Shop” section of our website (www.wethhist.org). Event is not recommended for children under seven.
The tour will start and end at the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center (200 Main Street) where children’s activities, light refreshments and entertainment will be provided. Tours will be led by lantern through the Main Street neighborhood stopping to “encounter” spirits from the past in their homes, houses of worship and gravesites. Come and meet Emily Griswold Morris Deming worried about her husband to be John Morris in the Connecticut 8th, listen to the tragic tale of David Deming's imprisionment in Andersonville Prison, listen to the relative of Wethersfield's black Governor, stop by a Civil War era tavern and more!
Wethersfield Historical Society is currently accepting reservations for the tours. Appropriate for ages 7 and up, tickets are $12 adults & $6 children. Group tours of 15 will depart starting at 5:30pm and leaving every twenty minutes with the last one leaving at 6:50pm. Each tour lasts a little over one hour. The evening begins and ends at the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center at 200 Main Street with refreshments, children’s activities and entertainment.
